Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body under the administrative control of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, (Department of Consumer Affairs), Government of India, is responsible for activities in the field of Standardization, Product and System Certification, Hallmarking of Gold/Silver Jewellery, Laboratory Testing etc. BIS invites applications for recruitment to 198 posts with it. Probation Period: 2 years
Selection Procedure: Final Selection will be based on candidates’ performance in written examination and skill test / Interview (as applicable).
Candidates short-listed on the basis of Written Examination will be called for Skill Test / Interview, as the case may be.
Appointment of selected candidates is subject to verification of original documents, clearing medical test, and verification of character and antecedents.
NOTE: There will be negative marking of 0.25% for each incorrect answer. The Question Paper will be set in both English & Hindi. The written examination will be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Guwahati. Candidates will be required to appear in written examination at their own expense.
Application Fees: Non-refundable application fee for each post has to be deposited at any branch of State Bank of India through a System Generated Challan. Application fees for posts on serial no 1 to 4 is Rs.500 and for the remaining posts is Rs.350. All candidates will have to pay Rs.35 as Transaction Charges to the Bank, besides the prescribed application fees.
After depositing the fees, the Bank will return one copy of bank challan containing a transaction / journal number. Candidates should retain this copy of the bank challan for reference.
SC/ST/PWD/Female candidates and existing departmental candidates are exempted from payment of fees. For Ex-servicemen, exemption is applicable only for the posts of Junior Stenographer and LDC.
How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates should apply on-line through BIS website .No documents/certificates and application forms are required to be sent to BIS by post. The on-line registration process involves two steps.
Step I: Log on to BIS website and open the online application form by clicking “RECRUITMENT ADVT / RESULT”. Fill in the required details and submit it. On successful registration, a confirmation message with candidates’ Registration number, password and a link for printing the bank challan will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID.
This completes the Step-1 of on-line registration process.
Candidate should take a printout of the bank challan and deposit the fees in any branch of State Bank of India (after minimum 24 hrs of Step 1 completion). For candidates who are exempted from payment of Application Fees, no bank challan will be generated and they will directly enter Step -2 after completion of Step – 1.
Step- 2: On confirmation of payment of fees (after minimum 48 hrs of the deposit of the application fees from the closing hour of Bank Business), candidates should upload their photograph & signature and submit it. On successful registration, a system-generated mail containing a copy of information filled in by the candidate will be sent to candidate’s e-mail ID. Candidates should print, sign and keep a copy of this information sheet for future reference.
NOTE: Candidates should have a valid personal e-mail ID that should be kept active during the currency of the recruitment process. Registration number, password, admit card for written test / skill test call letter and Interview call letter and all other important communication will be sent on the same registered e-mail ID.
Admit card for written test, containing details of the centre/venue for the examination etc., will be sent to the candidates at their registered e-mail ID. The candidates are required to take a printout of the admit cards. They can also download their admit cards from the BIS website using their registration number and the password. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without valid admit card.
Candidates called for interview/skill test will be required to produce certain documents for verification in original and also to submit the attested photocopies thereof at the time of interview/skill test. Such documents shall be listed in the interview/skill test call letter.
Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application for each post along with prescribed application fees. In such a case he/she should have separate valid email ID for applying for each post.
Existing Departmental Candidates of BIS (i.e. presently serving BIS employees) who fulfill eligibility criteria can apply directly and will not require separate permission to apply. The upper age limit for existing Departmental candidates is 50 years.
